Nepal and Tibet

The arts of the kingdom of Nepal are based both in Buddhism and Hinduism, and this small country found in the heart of the Himalayas is said to be the home of the gods. Nepal and Tibet share a similar artistic heritage in their painted thangkas, yet their sculptural styles in both bronze and wood have very distinct identities with Nepal having an emphasis perhaps on the gentler side of Hinduism and Buddhism, Tibetan art concentrating as much on the darker and more wrathful side of the Gods.
